The Markhor Sheep
Markhor, or Capra falconeri, is a large wild goat of the Himalayas in Jammu &
Kashmir. Its name means "snake-eater". It is most noted for its spiralled
twisted horns and long, shaggy. Grazing on high alpine grasses, the markhor is capable of
climbing some of the steepest mountainsides of Jammu & Kashmir. The markhor is a major food source of the endangered Snow Leopard of Jammu
& Kashmir.
