K.E.W.A. is pleased to present an on-line exhibit of paintings of Kashmir by various artists, including a collection of some of the work of Kashmir's leading artists today - which we hope to update regularly.

Also included is a 100 year-old collection of paintings by Major E. MolyneuxMolyneux travelled to Kashmir at the turn of the last century and undertook an artistic project to capture the beauty of Kashmir on canvas. His paintings were first published in 1908 in Younghusband's volume on Kashmir. The paintings vary from the snow capped peaks, lakes, forests, flowers, and meadows of Kashmir to the tranquil scenes of life in the villages and towns of Kashmir.  Molyneux 's paintings portray the pristine natural beauty of Kashmir and the harmonious ways in which the Kashmiri people lived within this environment.

This on-line exhibit is designed to play Kashmiri folk songs while you view the paintings.

Between the paintings and music, the visitor is sure to experience a deep sense of nostalgia for Kashmir, "paradise on earth". And with this nostalgia, we hope an increased appreciation for the need to safeguard the heavenly environment of Kashmir for our generations to come.
